Biography
Sallen joined the faculty in 2026, bringing experience in clinical legal education, public interest advocacy, and civil and criminal litigation.
Her legal practice has focused on serving children, families, and individuals navigating the justice system. She previously worked as a juvenile expungement staff attorney with Legal Aid Chicago, a staff attorney to a Cook County Circuit Court judge, and a staff attorney and education advocate with the Michigan Children’s Law Center.
Sallen’s scholarship explores access to justice, reentry, trauma-informed legal systems, and the rights of individuals affected by the legal system, with publications examining trauma-informed child welfare, juvenile court sentencing, and legal needs in health care settings.
She is admitted to practice in Michigan and Illinois, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Michigan and Northern District of Illinois.
